This was made for my niece's baby shower...she's now 16 months. This is how far behind I am in posts.
I tried to do as much pre-work as possible, recruited BFF to help make figurines a week ahead, baked the cupcakes the night before and gasp! used store bought icing, with food coloring.
I don't have actual recipes for this post, just tools that were used.
This was all inspired from Wee Love Baking. I studied her characters and did some research of my own from images found on Google.
Tools, Equipment, Etc.
One 5lb pack of pre-made fondant
Wilton food coloring in assorted colors
Wilton modeling tools
To color the fondant, break off a piece of the right size, smudge some food coloring on it and massage it, until the color is evenly blended and distributed.
The key to doing the bigger animals is to shape each piece separately, let them dry for 30 minutes to harden and then attach them. This will help it to hold its shape.
I used black food coloring for the eyes and what not, but don't recommend it. It smudged and didn't try out fast enough.
BFF did the curly tails by rolling the fondant out into a thin rope and wrapping it around a skewer. We stuck them on the oinker after.
I stamped out the flowers with leftover fondant and left them to dry overnight. They're really hard to work with if the fondant is fresh.
We used scissors to cut pointy pig ears.
omg these are amazing. i wish i was on your team so i could get such pretty things too!
