How to Keep Fresh Herbs

If you are like me and no longer have access to a garden of fresh herbs that you can pick from as needed, then you probably buy most of your herbs in bunches. If you are like me, and only have two mouths to feed nightly, it's virtually impossible to go through a bunch of herbs before they dry out in the fridge.

This method will keep your parsley fresh for weeks, basil for at least 1 1/2 weeks and maximize the lifespan of other herbs.

Method
  1. Take a cup, mason jar, or old sanitized jam jar and fill it with an inch of cold water.
  2. Trim the stem of your herbs, just about 1 cm.
  3. Place the herbs in the jar, unwashed.
  4. Place the plastic bag over the cup and twist the end close off.
  5. Replace the water every 3-5 days.
